2016 Battle of the Books

The Battle of the Books had an incredible pilot year in 2016. Hoping to fill 16 team slots, planners were overwhelmed with teams within hours of registration opening. Ultimately 24 teams -- over 130 readers -- participated with 13 area schools represented.

Of the ten book titles, some especially popular choices among the readers were Space Case, How To Steal a Dog, Kensuke’s Kingdom, and Frindle.

Capping off the Championship Battle was an appearance by Tui Sutherland, best-selling fantasy children’s author, known for her Wings of Fire and Menagerie series. Tui gave out the awards, captivated students with stories of dragons and mythical creatures, and finally signed books. She talked with readers as the line stretched down the hall.

Congratulations!
