2021 Battle of the Books
In 2021, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Battle of the Books program was revamped in an online format with changes to rules and scoring. All competition events were held online via Zoom. Sixty-three teams signed on to participate. Over 300 kids competed on Team Battle Day with over 80 hours of battle time logged by our volunteers. The Championship Battle & All-Team Finale was held with special guest author Shelley Pearsall. The two finalist teams tied and were declared co-champions after three rounds of tiebreaker questions.
Of the nine book titles, popular choices among the readers were Framed, Things Seen From Above, Out of Left Field, and The Polar Bear Explorers' Club.
Shelley Pearsall, author of Things Seen From Above, shared the inspiration for her book, talked about the work of an author, and took questions live from the readers.
Congratulations!
